The MatchLens

Privacy

One page, in plain English, describing everything we actually hold. If a line here is unclear or wrong, write to joseph@thematchlens.com and it gets fixed.

What we collect

Your account

An email address. If you sign in with Google, Google also tells us the name and profile picture on that account. That is the whole of what we ask Google for, and we ask for nothing else.

Your list

The programs you add, the status you set on each one, any note you write, the interview date you enter, and the order you put them in. In March we ask you one question about what happened, and your answer is kept with your list.

Nothing about your application

Unless you type it into a note yourself. No scores, no documents, no visa status, no photograph, no date of birth. We never ask for any of it and there is nowhere to put it.

Your IP address, briefly

It is used as part of a counter that caps how many lists can be created from one place in a day. The counter deletes itself after 24 hours. Nothing else reads it, and it is never attached to your list.

What we do not do

There is no analytics on this site. No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no session recorder, no advertising tag of any kind. Every page loads files from thematchlens.com and nowhere else, which you can check yourself with view source.

We have never sold anybody's data, and there is no version of this business where selling it would make sense.

Who else touches it

Five companies, each doing one job.

Cloudflare

Hosts the site and stores your list. Also runs the bot check on the sign-up form.

Clerk

Runs sign-in and holds your account and password, if you set one.

Google

Only if you choose the Google button. Google tells us your email address and name so the account can be made. We send Google nothing about you in return, and we do not use what Google gives us for advertising, for training a model, or for anything other than signing you in.

Resend

Delivers the email we send you, which is how a sign-in link and the March question reach you.

Hostinger

Runs the joseph@thematchlens.com mailbox, so anything you write to us sits there.

How long we keep it

Your list stays until you ask for it to go. The daily counters that hold an IP address expire after 24 hours. The cached link between your account and your email address expires after 30 days and is rebuilt the next time you sign in.

If you used the older email form on the front page, we also hold the graduation year you picked there, under the same terms as everything else on this page.

What you can ask for

Write to joseph@thematchlens.com and ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, a correction to any of it, or deletion of your account and your list. A person reads that mailbox. Expect a reply within a few days and the work done within thirty.

What we publish about programs is not about you

Every requirement on this site is quoted from that program's own public page, with the link and the date it was read. That is public information about institutions. Your list is never part of it, and no program is ever told who has added it.
