ERAS 2027 fees for Internal Medicine

AAMC charges $11 per program for your first 30 Internal Medicine programs, and $30 for every program after that. The number resets per specialty, applies to the 2027 ERAS season that opens in June 2026, and the jump between $11 and $30 is nearly three times the price, on the 31st program and every one after it.

The structure, from AAMC's own page

AAMC's participation fee page states it plainly: "a new, simplified residency fee rate and structure, beginning with the 2027 ERAS season, which starts in June 2026." Programs 1 through 30 cost $11 each. Program 31 onward costs $30 each. The pricing resets with each additional specialty you apply to, so this table is specific to Internal Medicine and does not compound with any other specialty on the same ERAS application. We read this page directly, on 14 August 2026, because AAMC's fee page sits behind a check that blocks automated reading.

The cliff at 31, and what it actually means

The 30th program on a list costs $11. The 31st costs $30. Every applicant this site is built for applies to well past 30 programs, which means the cliff is not a warning about crossing 31, it is simply the price of every program past the 30th: exactly $30 each. That is a fact you can check against AAMC's own table, not an estimate we are asking you to trust. It also means every program you can rule out before you apply, because it has published a requirement you do not meet, saves exactly $30 in ERAS fees alone, on top of the time an application to it would have cost.

Two things this number does not include

This is the AAMC ERAS participation fee only. It does not include ECFMG's own token fee, which non-US IMGs pay separately and which AAMC's fee page does not list at all. It also does not account for the Fee Assistance Program, which is means-tested and, from what AAMC publishes, aimed at US applicants; if it does not apply to you, the numbers above are your real total for ERAS itself. Treat $2,790 as the ERAS bill for 112 programs, not as the full cost of applying.

What we will never do with this number

We will not tell you to apply to fewer programs to save money. How many programs you apply to is your decision, and under-applying can cost you a season. What we do instead: we show you which programs on your own list have already ruled you out, in their own words, so that the $30 you would spend on each of them is a choice you make with the fact in front of you, not a guess.
