The 2027 Match calendar
ERAS accepts applications from 2 September 2026. Programs begin receiving them 23 September 2026. Interview season begins 1 October 2026. Ranking opens 1 February 2027. Match Week runs 15 to 19 March 2027, with Match Day on 19 March. Those dates are published by AAMC and NRMP today. The rank list certification deadline is not published yet, and we say so rather than guess.
The published dates
AAMC opens the 2027 ERAS season for applicants to begin submitting on 2 September 2026. Programs begin receiving applications 23 September 2026. Interview season, by NRMP's own published cycle shape, runs from 1 October through the end of January. Ranking opens 1 February 2027, and NRMP's own published Match calendar puts Match Week at 15 to 19 March 2027, with Match Day, the Friday that ends it, falling on 19 March. Every one of these is a boundary we can trace to AAMC or NRMP's own published calendar, and every boundary turns over at midnight US Eastern, the zone every one of these organisations publishes its deadlines in, not midnight wherever you happen to be reading this.
What is not published yet, and why we will not guess
NRMP has not yet published when rank lists must be certified for the 2027 cycle. We could estimate it from past years, and we do not, on the same rule that governs every fact on this site: a number without a source does not ship. The moment NRMP publishes it, on its own match calendar, we read it and add it here with the date we read it.
What a signal is
A signal is a limited way to tell a specific program you are seriously interested in it, submitted alongside your ERAS application rather than after it. It is separate from applying: you can apply to a program without signalling it, and a signal does not substitute for meeting a program's published requirements. Our tracker lets you mark which programs on your list you signalled, so the record sits next to the application itself rather than in a separate note you have to remember to cross-reference later.
The five phases of the season
| Phase | What it covers |
|---|---|
| 1. Build & Submit | Choosing programs and submitting through ERAS, which accepts from 2 September, until 22 September |
| 2. Review & invites | 23 to 30 September: programs begin receiving your application |
| 3. Interview season | 1 October to 31 January: invitations and scheduled times |
| 4. Rank | 1 February to 12 March: ordering the programs you interviewed with |
| 5. Match Week | 15 to 19 March 2027: what happened, Match Day on 19 March |
Your tracker moves through these on its own, from the calendar date and from what is actually on your list: an empty list is always Build regardless of the date, and a list with nothing interviewed never jumps ahead to Rank. You can also look at any phase directly without changing where your own season actually is.
